It’s Not a Competition, but There Is a Winner
I think we can all agree, E3 is one big advertising slot for all the developers and publishers in the business. Everyone gets to show off their games and attract as much hype as they can. Just like regular advertisements, at the end, customers decide what they want to buy. Now that E3 is over, we get to see what the majority of players are interested in. Comic Book recently got the rundown on which games made up most of GameStop pre-orders after E3. Some titles may surprise you, but most won’t.
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
- Pokémon Sword and Shield
- Final Fantasy VII Remake
- Cyberpunk 2077
- Borderlands 3
- Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening
- Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
- Gears of War 5
- Super Mario Maker 2
- Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled
What? Call of Duty is the most pre-ordered game? Well, it is Call of Duty. It is also not a console exclusive, so it may appeal to a wider audience. It has also been available for pre-order longer than a lot of these games. Pokémon Sword and Shield are two different games, so a combined sale helps put them at a high spot. Third and fourth spots belong to Final Fantasy VII Remake and Cyberpunk 2077, probably the two most popular games at E3 and most long-awaited. Borderlands 3 got a new trailer at E3, but has been available for pre-order for longer, like Modern Warfare.
The remake of Link’s Awakening, the latest Star Wars game, as well as more sequels to very successful series round out the last five spots. Out of all of these titles, Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled is the only one now available. You can check out our review here.
