Animal Crossing: New Horizons Has a 6.2 GB File Size
After releasing details about Animal Crossing: New Horizon’s multiplayer, new details about the game’s file size and save data transfers have released. According to the back of the game’s German download card, players won’t be allowed to transfer save data from one Nintendo Switch console to another. This information was found through the sub Reddit r/Nintendo Switch by Rocco_Morrashow. The file size of the game is also apparently 6.2 GB but it will have endless replayability. Animal Crossing: New Horizons releases exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on March 20th, 2020.
With the combination of lacking cloud save support and save data transfers ensures that Nintendo’s promise of one New Horizons island per Nintendo Switch console is realized. The problem with not allowing either is that fans who own a standard Nintendo Switch and the Switch Lite won’t be able to bring their island to both consoles. The biggest issue with a game like Animal Crossing: New Horizons lacking cloud saves is the potential of losing dozens, or even hundreds, of hours of progress should something go wrong with the console.
Although games such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Pokemon Sword and Shield have larger file sizes than New Horizons, titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Pokemon Let’s Go are smaller installs. This gives us a rough idea of how much content will be included in the game compared to previous Animal Crossing games. Many people in the Switch community were upset by Animal Crossing: New Horizons lacking cloud save support and the lack of save data transfers will likely further aggravate that portion of the community.
Are you upset that New Horizons won’t feature cloud saves or save data transfers? Will you prefer to play the game on the go or at home on the big screen? Let us know in the comments below!
