Nuclear Winter Will Continue to Receive Updates
It seems Bethesda is leveraging the immense popularity of battle royale games to push the negatively received Fallout 76 into relevance. Thankfully for the company, the battle royal mode has become an extremely popular feature for a game starving for positive updates. Fallout 76 unveiled the update during E3 2019, initially intending the game to be only temporarily available. However, due to the strong reception, Bethesda is now keeping the pre-beta around.
In a blog post, Bethesda says “We’ve been blown away by the reactions and responses we’ve been seeing all week to Nuclear Winter. It has been so amazing to read all your experiences and see everything you’ve been sharing. There are so many incredible up-and-coming Overseers! Vault 51 is lucky.”
“With all the excitement and popularity, we wanted to let you know that the pre-beta sneak peek of Nuclear Winter will remain on and continue to receive updates, so keep sharing your feedback. There’s more to come! Thank you again for playing, sharing, and being the best community there is.”
Nuclear Winter divides 52 players into squads and unleashes them upon the wasteland. In a very Hunger Games inspired move, a wall of fire slowly closes in on players. This acts as a time limit and helps to ensure that campers are forced into action.
