Borderlands 3 Honours Fan with Touching Tribute
Trevor Eastman is a 26-year-old massive fan of the Borderlands franchise. Last June Trevor was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal stomach and liver cancer. Doctors only gave him a year to live. When the team making Borderlands 3 found out about his request they were more than happy to help out.
It all began on a Reddit post where Trevor laid out his situation. There he asked for an opportunity to play the game early as he didn’t know if he would live until the release. Eastman wrote, “I’ve been a huge fan of Borderlands for a long time now and I don’t know if I’ll live to see Borderlands. If there’s any possible way that someone could find a way for me to able to play it early… I would be forever grateful”. The team at Gearbox Software found a way.
Gearbox invited Trevor to the studio where he was able to play a special preview build as the actual story will be at least 30 hours long. For four hours Trevor was able to experience the game he loves so much. He was even able to name a unique weapon that will feature in the game when it launches September 13. The legendary weapon is the “Compressing Trevonator”. It is a Maliwan shotgun capable of swapping between cryo and fore damage. It also contains some text in red letters that reads “Trev is gonna get you!”.
Borderlands 3 is coming to consoles and PC on September 13. Post game content is already planned for after the release.
