Will This Set a Precedent for Online Multiplayer Games on Stadia?
Bungie is saying that Destiny 2 will not have crossplay capabilities on the Google Stadia. This is surprising seeing as Stadia will stream a PC version of your game to other devices. This suggests there would be fewer obstacles to creating crossplay with PC.
On Bungie’s FAQ published this week, the company writes “Stadia is its own ecosystem, just like current existing platforms. Stadia players will only be able to play with other Stadia players.”
In the same FAQ, the company also clears up some questions regarding the cross-save capabilities. One of the questions is “Can players merge different characters, items, or triumphs from different accounts?” In response, Bungie states “Cross Save does not feature account, character, or progress merging. Selecting a primary account for Cross Save does not delete or alter the data of any other accounts.”
