NetherRealm Studios May Have Just Confirmed Reptile’s Existence in Mortal Kombat 11
Yesterday, during Mortal Kombat 11‘s big reveal event we got to see the game in action with the first official gameplay trailer, complete with a brand new character. Of course, the announcement that Ronda Rousey would be playing as Sonya Blade didn’t hurt either. Now however, it seems that NetherRealm Studios may have just low-key confirmed a franchise favorite: Reptile.
In an interview with DualShockers, Steve Beran, NetherRealm Studio’s Art Director, discussed a new feature being added to franchise game mode Towers of Time. This feature will allow players to choose between different modifiers to help achieve victory in battle. For example, there are tag team modifiers that make it possible to use different characters to make your way through the tower challenges. During the battle you can activate the modifier, giving players a bit of a leg up. Here’s how Beran explained it, using Skarlet as an example, “She comes in, throws a few blows, and then hops back out.”
And in case things weren’t clear, Steve Beran threw Reptile into the mix as another example. “Then there’s certain things like you can activate Reptile’s Acid Ball. It’s very nostalgic. You have these helpers, if you will. It’s a blast and we’re really happy about that.” Of course while this isn’t official confirmation, it’s pretty much the next best thing and considering Reptile is a frequent flyer in the Mortal Kombat series, it’d be more surprising not to see him join the roster. At this point it’s unclear how he’ll look or how he’ll play, but hopefully NetherRealm is revamping him to be just as badass as those we saw in the recent trailer.
Mortal Kombat 11 is set to release on April 23rd for the PlayStation 4, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. Are you planning on picking the game up? Are you stoked about the probability of Reptile in the latest in the franchise? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and don’t forget to keep it locked for updates!
