We’ll Have to Wait Until at Least Spring 2022 To Hear More

Final Fantasy is always a highly anticipated title. Whether it’s for Final Fantasy 7 Remake or The MMO Final Fantasy Fourteen, fans want to play it and enjoy the game.

Final Fantasy 16

We haven’t heard about Final Fantasy 16 though. While we heard of the game announcement in  September 2020, we haven’t heard much from it since. We do know that the game will be a single-player, action role-playing game. We also know that there will be taking place in the Realm of Valisthea, where there are six countries. We also know that there are three characters in the game- Clive and Joshua Rosfield, and Jill Warrick, which from the character summaries, seem to promise that the story origins, at least, start off in the country of Rosfield, with what’s known as Mothercrystals being a source of fear and power for the six nations.

This is all published on the Square Enix website that celebrates the game, and there have been very few details about the game otherwise, including its release.

Naoki Yoshida, the producer of the latest of the franchise, posted a message on the website, apologizing for the delays and lack of messages, as well as social media.

When last we spoke, I promised I would have more information on FINAL FANTASY XVI sometime later in 2021. However, I regret to inform you that I will be unable to keep that promise as complications stemming from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic have delayed the game’s development by almost a half year.”

Yoshida continues to be apologetic throughout the message, citing that (understandably) COVID-19 is the main cause of the delay, with not just the sickness, but the decentralization causing communication problems throughout. Yoshida promises that they will be tackling the problem in 2022, and that we will be hearing more about the game- not the release- will be coming out in Spring of 2022.

Our primary goal now is to be as hands on with the game as possible in order to see it fully polished,” wrote Yoshida.

It’s been a difficult few years, and the fact that they’re working so hard is commendable. But hopefully, Naoki Yoshida, as well as the rest of his team, will not be too harsh on themselves for working under difficult circumstances.
