Forza Horizon 5 Video Review

If you are a racing sim fan, you may want to slow down and check out Forza Horizon 5. Then again, if you are a racing sim fan, you have probably already dived into the game. The Forza series continually pumps out quality games and Forza Horizon 5 is no exception.

On the surface, Forza Horizon 5 is really beautiful. It gives players an option between performance mode and quality mode, both of which highlight different visual achievements. In performance mode, the game hits 60 fps and gives the player a sense of velocity as you drive around the Mexican countryside. Quality mode is capped at 30 fps, but allows you to take in the crisp edges and details that pass you by in performance mode.

The map is full of things to do. There are more icons than you can count, which may seem overwhelming, but it really gives players almost an endless amount of challenges and races to conquer. The play space is also massive, yet not a single road is wasted; there will be something to do no matter where you go.

If you do find yourself driving across the map looking around, you will notice the draw distance. It is like you can see to the ends of the world (Flat-Earthers, I see you!). If there aren’t any trees in your immediate sightline, you can see clear across the landscape to the mountains in the distance.

As you chip away at the races and challenges, you will be awarded different types of credits and experience points. The experience points can be used to sharpen your driving skills with perks, while credits can be used as in-game currency to buy more cosmetic things, like clothing items for your human.

Forza Horizon 5 is the perfect mix of driving sim and arcade game. You don’t shoot shells at opponents like some arcade race games, but you also have to take into account real physics when balancing speed and turns.
