Frostpunk Has Been a Huge Commercial Success on PC

Frostpunk has managed to sell over 1.4 million copies on PC, the game’s developer, 11 bit studios, announced Wednesday. The developer also revealed that the game managed to recoup its development costs “within 66 hours” of launch.

Frostpunk’s commercial success on PC came with much critical praise. “It may seem like there is no end in sight, no happy ending for those who survive,” the author of our review wrote, “but with its fantastic presentation and no-nonsense attitude, Frostpunk is an exemplary game to learn from and with so many paths to go down, the replay value is through the roof, especially for gamers who happen to be a glutton for punishment.”

Notably, the game is also coming to PS4 & Xbox One this summer with “all the previous free updates from the PC version” and some additional content “planned for the future.”

Wednesday’s announcement also revealed some interesting player statistics:

  • 43.8% of players finished the main campaign
  • 59% of players chose the path of Faith
  • 2.9% of players failed in Serenity mode
  • 0.3% of players survived 100 days on the hardest difficulty level
