Twenty years ago, you might never have picked Valve’s co-founder Gabe Newell as the face of PC gaming. And yet here we stand today, with fanart depicting the billionaire as a deity handing out low-priced games to the masses as a fairly common occurrence. It only makes sense then for Newell to eventually make dulcet tones available in Valve’s biggest game right now, Dota 2.
Valve has introduced a Mega-Kill pack for Dota 2 featuring their boss and head honcho, where Newell will tell you how good you are, and also how terrible your team is when they get wiped. It’s fun and funny and also he’s genuinely awful at it, which somehow makes it better. Check out the trailer introducing it below.
The YouTube channel DotaCinema mined all the lines out and compiled them in this video here. The best line might be “You have more than two kills but less than four.” He won’t even give us that.
The voice pack arrives to celebrate The International, the upcoming gigantic and official worldwide tournament for Dota 2 taking place in Vancouver, Canada. You can snag Newell’s voice for your mega kills by purchasing the International’s battle pass and start emailing him about Half-Life 3. I hear he loves that.
