Gran Turismo 7’s New Trailer Shows off a New Fleet of Cars
Gran Turismo 7 has just reappeared at Sony’s PlayStation Showcase 2021 with a new preview. PS Studios Head Hermen Hulst has confirmed that the game will be coming to gamers on March 4, 2022, and the trailer has showcased a lot of cars—the inside, the outside, and the presumably ray-traced vistas that racers will be racing in.
Back in February, Sony had already announced that Gran Turismo 7 will not be launched in 2021, and will instead be released in 2022. Now, Polyphonic Digital has confirmed an actual official launch date of March 4th for both PS4 and PS5 consoles.
Gran Turismo 7’s first trailer was actually debuted last June. Although fans was treated to a lot of information about the game at the time, this new look shows even more—including an in-depth glimpse of the game’s deep customization feature. The newly shared trailer also shows off some of the title’s online gameplay, as well as its deep photo mode. Hulst also confirmed in a post-event discussion that Gran Turismo 7 will also be taking advantage of the DualSense’s adaptive triggers and rumble features.
A large garage will serve as Gran Turismo 7’s hub world, being the venue where players will store all of the vehicles that they have been able to unlock. The new fleet of in-game vehicles ranges from Mercedes and Porsche supercars to classic beaters, to mud-slinging jeeps, and just about anything else in between.
The Gran Turismo franchise goes back to 1997. Although it may be true that the racing title is regarded as one of the most efficient showpieces for PlayStation’s technical capabilities, none of its installments were actually launched alongside a new console. Fans of the series are well aware that Gran Turismo Sport launched in 2017, trailing PS4’s launch by four years. Moreover, Gran Turismo 5 was also released after the PS3 was out by four years.
Gran Turismo 7 will be the first numbered entry for PlayStation’s driving series in almost nine years.
