GTA 5’s Remastered Version Has Been Delayed to March 2022
Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced Edition, despite having an original release date of November 11, 2021, has officially been delayed to March of 2022. Rockstar Games made the official announcement at Sony’s PlayStation Showcase 2021.
Last summer, the devs behind GTA’s fifth installment announced that are going to release the title to next-gen consoles with “a range of technical improvements, visual upgrades, and performance enhancements to take full advantage of the latest hardware, making the game more beautiful and more responsive than ever.” Now that the game has been delayed to launch in 2022, fans of the franchise will have to wait a bit longer before they can finally experience these new next-gen features for themselves.
“We have done great with the Mafia series,” said Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick at the time. “Grand Theft Auto 5 is now heading into its third generation which is incredible.”
As of the moment, it remains unclear why a classic game that is more than eight years old got such a lengthy launch delay—considering that it is only a remaster. However, Zelnick is “confident “ that “Rockstar is going to deliver just a great experience.” “You cannot do that if you are just doing a simple port,” he added.
The remastered version of GTA 5 will reportedly include more content intended for GTA Online, which is the game’s popular multiplayer mode. In addition to that, PlayStation Plus members are also going to receive additional content as part of Sony’s marketing agreement with Rockstar.
As seen in the recently revealed GTA 5 trailer, the game’s next-gen version will have improved graphics, a more seamless character switching process, as well as enhanced gameplay. “It was a standard bearer when it was launched. It continued to be the standard bearer in the second generation,” added Zelnick. “We will see how Grand Theft Auto does in the next generation.”
