Halo Infinite Devs Improved the Warthog

Halo Infinite’s Warthog is one of the franchise’s most popular vehicles. Although it is a favorite among fans, many players have pointed out that it does not really feel like a classic big-boned humvee. Its version in the game feels more like a supercar with its quick gliding and lightweight characteristics.

To change this, 343 Industries has decided to adjust this in Halo Infinite’s Season 2 update. In fact, the studio just shared some patch notes and it looks pretty extensive.

The Warthog’s tire positions and suspension have been adjusted to better improve its handling on uneven terrain,” Halo Infinite devs wrote. They specified in their Developer Notes that the vehicle was “taking the bumps in the road rougher than it should” causing it to “twist or roll a frustrating amount.”

When Halo Infinite players use slower speed, the Warthog’s springy suspension is able to handle rocky terrain relatively well. However, whenever they pick up their pace, the vehicle’s back tires start to sway like as if they were floating. To fix this, devs added 170 pounds to the Warthog’s meat.

Players who were able to try out the newly improved Warthog said that it still feels largely the same. It can still take corners around the map without much resistance. However, they did detect some extra junk in the trunk. They feel like more weight is being pushed around whenever they suddenly put on the brakes. This is most likely due to its “increased inertia tensor scale.” Its tires also seem to be glued harder to the ground now.

It has become clear that Halo Infinite devs are taking vehicle handling very seriously. Their patch notes for the Warthog included centimeter-level tire tweaks as well as the exact measurement of digital poundage.
