IGN Continues to Find Plagiarized Work from Ex-Reviewer

It looks like former IGN editor Filip Miucin has a history of plagiarism: after being fired for his lifted Dead Cells review, IGN is now working to remove all of the posts written by Miucin after other instances of rephrased and copied articles and videos were discovered.

“We’ve seen enough now, both from the thread and our own searches, that we’re taking down pretty much everything he did,” said IGN reviews editor Dan Stapleton in response to a thread on ResetEra that is posting the additional allegations.

IGN plans to examine all of Miucin’s work since he began last October to determine what can stay and what must go. They also plan to re-review many of the games he reviewed, including those for Skyrim and Doom on Switch, which have both been removed and replaced by a message addressing the “concerns over similarities to work by other authors.”

Although Micuin did respond to the accusations, he seems to be ignoring interview requests from the press.

“Deeply disappointed and upset that it’s looking more and more likely that we unwittingly hosted work that was directly lifted from or at best heavily derived from others,” said IGN editorial manager Justin Davis on Twitter. “I assure you we are taking very active steps to remove it all, and make it right. I feel betrayed.”

“Tonight IGN took down more content over concerns some of the work by Filip may have been copied,” said video boss Fran Mirabella. “After 18 years at IGN as a reviewer, a producer – it’s despicable. Authors and supporters affected: I’m sorry. Nobody at IGN stands for this. This is a personal statement of my own.”
