Nathan Drake Might Finally Make It to the Big Screen!

The long-awaited Uncharted film that’s been in development since 2008 might get a big reveal next Monday, according to a coy Instagram post that was made by actor Nathan Fillion on Wednesday.

“Sic Parvis Magna 7/16/18,” read Fillion’s Instagram post which also included a picture of the popular rapper Drake. The Latin phrase possibly translates to “Greatness from small beginnings” and it’s a motto often associated with the 16th century English explorer Sir Francis Drake.

It’s also a favorite motto of Uncharted series protagonist Nathan Drake, who liked to think of himself as a descendant of Sir Francis Drake. It should also be noted that, in the past, Fillion has expressed interest in playing Nate in an Uncharted movie.

“I am certainly still interested in playing Nathan Drake,” Fillion said in 2011. “I think every actor I know wants their action-adventure hero, their Indiana Jones. That would be a good one for me, I think.”

Notably, last July, Spider-Man actor Tom Holland also spoke about the film and it’s been rumored that he’s been cast as a younger Nathan Drake.

If this Uncharted movie does come out then it could become the latest example of a trend of recent videogame movies have actually been received somewhat positively. The Tomb Raider and Rampage movies both got decent reviews and did fairly well at the box office. Maybe Nathan Drake’s upcoming film could continue this trend?
