Differing Consoles No Longer an Obstacle for Battling Friends Online
The trend of including cross-platform capabilities is continuing in the gaming industry. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare describes itself as a “re-imagining” of the franchise and this feature certainly follows suit. Cross-Platform capabilities will mean that players are able to play against people who are on different gaming systems. Therefore, people playing on PC can compete against players on console systems.
The new Call of Duty game will also be omitting the inclusion of a season pass. Typically you require a season pass in order to gain access to new maps and additional content. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare hopes to make all this free as part of their “re-imagining”.
An official statement sent to PC Gamer from Activision reads, “the team is eliminating the traditional season pass, so that they can deliver more free maps and content as well as post-launch events to all players”. It is a refreshing change of pace that a game producer isn’t looking to suck your wallet dry with in-game purchases.
The new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is shaping up to be something special. A trailer is currently out and more information can be expected to come during E3.
