Nintendo President Apologizes for Joy-Con Drift

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa recently apologized about Joy-Con drift during a financial Q&A post, claiming that the company is working on improving the product. Nintendo is sorry for any trouble caused to our customers but because of the ongoing class-action lawsuit in the United States, they can’t speak too openly about the issue. Joy-Con drift has been an issue plaguing Nintendo fans since the Nintendo Switch released way back in 2017 and even the newest Joy-Con have the known issue. Joy-Con can be purchased in several different colours and they’re exclusive to the Nintendo Switch but can be paired with Bluetooth enabled devices.

“Regarding the Joy-Con, we apologize for any trouble caused to our customers,” said Shuntaro Furukawa during the Q&A. “We are continuing to aim to improve our products, but as the Joy-Con is the subject of a class-action lawsuit in the United States and this is still a pending issue, we would it like to refrain from responding about any specific actions.” While it’s promising to hear that Nintendo is working to improve the Joy-Con, we expect the issue to be fixed after the resolution of the class-action lawsuit in the US.

While the recent Nintendo financial Q&A was entirely in Japanese, it has been translated so that fans in the west can be aware of Nintendo’s regrets. Joy-Con drift has affected many people around the world and the US has taken it upon themselves to demand Nintendo change the design or reimburse countless fans who have been impacted by the hardware issue. While Nintendo Switch units have been sold out nearly everywhere lately, production has been slowly ramping up to meet the demand created by Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
