More Octopath, Bravely and An All New Title.

With the year winding down, the Octopath Traveler producers were part of Famitsu’s year-end talk with a total of 119 developers. Some exciting news for the team as well – after the break away success of Octopath Traveler for the Nintendo Switch, Square-Enix made the team into its own proper business division.

Tomoya Asano takes the role of executive for Business Division 11, and he is joined by lead Octopath Traveler producer Masashi Takashi. The pair have worked together since the first Bravely Default game, and shared some ambitions for the upcoming year.

Asano mentioned that 2019 will have a challenge that is “different from what we’ve had with Octopath Traveler and the Bravely Series”. He has mentioned in the past that Business Division 11 has at least two more games for the Nintendo Switch in Development, but states in the Famitsu interview that the team is moving forward with the “development of several games” but that any information is still a while off!

Takahashi talks a little bit more about the support the team received right up until the launch of Octopath Traveler and how thanks to that support, releasing the game was possible. He says he’ll be working on console games in 2019, but plans on properly reflecting before heading into the new work year. He states he promises to do his best to bring us more games from the Octopath series, Bravely Series as well as a new game and more!

You may recall back in August that the official Japanese Bravely Twitter tweeted out a teaser image that was the reverse of the 1,000,000 copies sold Octopath Traveler image. So far, nothing else about what this image could mean has been revealed – hopefully 2019 holds the key!

If you could add any one job class to Octopath or Bravely – what would it be? Discuss below!
