Expect a “Long List of Updates and Improvement”
After a series of unfortunate bugs, developer BioWare rallied behind the Anthem private demo debacle. With the public demo, they managed to make the game work, for the most part. The result was over 40 million hours of playtime logged. According to BioWare’s head of live service, Chad Robertson, the numbers exceeded the team’s expectations.
Unsurprisingly, the second Anthem demo reeled in more players with its wider availability. The VIP demo allowed BioWare to identify and fix the game’s glitches during the week that followed. This would explain why feedback on the experience was much more positive. Hopefully, this will lead to a more refined full game at launch.
“I’m thrilled to share that our public demo weekend exceeded our expectation,” Robertson wrote in a blog post. “Operationally, things were super smooth – our war rooms were tranquil this weekend, which is exactly how we like them.”
With the demo out of the way, BioWare is free to focus on the final build of their co-op shooter. Now that we know how it plays, we’re left to ponder the state of endgame content. Robertson guarantees “much more” to share soon. The possibilities go further in regards to post-launch content.
“Our focus now shifts 100% to launch and beyond. Our development team is hard at work on finalizing our launch builds and beginning our countdown preparations. As I’ve mentioned previously, the launch version of the game has a long list of updates and improvements that were not in the demo builds. And, of course, launch will be the first time our community has access to the full game with all content.
Anthem launches everywhere for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on February 22nd, 2019. Expect COGconnected’s in-depth review in due course.
