Change of Course For the Franchise

Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer has held its own in the football simulator world alongside FIFA, the genre’s true giant. The game won the hearts of millions of fans worldwide and has ambassadors such as Messi, Neymar, and more.

Konami has announced an official shift in the franchise’s future as the upcoming game will be known as ‘eFootball‘ instead of Pro Evolution Soccer, or PES, and will be free to play! The game is set to release in Autumn 2021.

In its statement, Konami noted that it started the series to create a revolutionary soccer platform and on this notion, has decided to create a new soccer engine with a newly built animation system and revamped game commands. As a result, they decided that the shift to ‘eFootball’ would be apt to provide a new football experience.

eFootball will be free to play on multiple devices and in the near future, the company aims at the game having cross-play features to allow players to go head to head regardless of their device. Furthermore, eFootball will have a stellar eSports category that offers the ultimate competitive experience.

As eFootball releases later this year, it will utilize the hardware capabilities of next-gen consoles to their fullest, with top tier graphics and immersive gameplay. The game will be available on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC via Steam and iOS and Android mobile devices.
