The NEXT Update Changes a Lot About ‘No Man’s Sky’

Even though it officially became playable on multiple platforms on Tuesday, the multiplayer feature of the free NEXT update for No Man’s Sky currently isn’t available for those who’ve purchased the game on GOG.

No Man's Sky

A joint statement from GOG and No Man’s Sky developer Hello Games said that the “multiplayer component will not be ready at launch” and is expected “to be released later this year as full multiplayer parity remains in the pipeline.”

“For a small, independent studio, developing the feature across multiple platforms is a hugely ambitious and technical challenge which resulted in this delayed release,” the statement continued. “Hello Games is however joining forces with GOG.COM to introduce full multiplayer via the GOG Galaxy platform.”

The NEXT update is the latest free update for No Man’s Sky and, along with multiplayer, it also adds an optional third-person camera perspective, various visual upgrades, more in-depth base building and the ability to build your own fleet.
