The World Ends With You: Final Remix Video Review

We may give a lot of flak to the PS Vita for its obscure library, but the handheld-dominating Nintendo DS held its fair share of gems that somehow managed to slip through the cracks. One such title was The World Ends With You, launching back in 2007. An RPG that made full use of both screens of the DS while telling a dark narrative about the future of these teenage characters, The World Ends With You easily achieved cult classic status and it is no surprise that it found its way onto the Nintendo Switch. This is a game that earned the right for a second chance, but does the Switch offer up the right basis for telling the story of Neku and his friends? Check out our video review below to see what we thought.

The World Ends With You: Final Remix is an updated port of the phenomenal DS game originally launching back in 2007. The game follows Neku, a teenage boy forced to spend three weeks playing “The Game.” Without giving too much away, The World Ends With You is a complex narrative about friendship, death, consequences, and much more, however much of the game is layered with the sweet combat grind of its innovative battle systems and beautiful artwork. For those who enjoy the grind, this is an ideal game to jump into. The World Ends With You is at its best when in handheld mode as being docked will get you to use the motion controls of the joy-con which might not be for everybody, or even most people.
