Everyone Can March on D.C. Soon
Following the private beta, Ubisoft is near ready to unveil The Division 2 before the public. At the beginning of next month, everyone will be free to try their hand at the game through its public beta.
Announced via press release, The Division 2 public beta will begin on March 1st, 2019, to give everyone the chance to experience D.C. in Summertime and as imagined by Massive Entertainment. In the private beta, pre-order buyers were treated to a big vertical slice of the open world – Side missions, enemy bases, and pieces of the campaign dropped in abundance. In addition, we received a decent glimpse of PvP and late-game content, which was more than we saw in the beta for the first game. How the next beta will vary, if at all, is anyone’s guess. The best we may hope for, however, is an online experience that doesn’t stutter.
Players reported a number of issues during the private beta. While some bugs seemed small and odd, like the lack of sound and ability triggers, others were disconnected players. The Division 2 will reach PS4, Xbox One, and PC on February 22, 2019. Given Ubisoft’s track record—and games as a service as a whole, we can only hope for stable servers at launch.
Led by Massive Entertainment in collaboration with seven other studios around the world*, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is the next evolution in the open-world online shooter RPG genre that the first game helped establish. Set seven months after a deadly virus was released in New York City, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 will bring players into a fractured and collapsing Washington D.C. The world is on the brink, its people living through the biggest crisis ever faced in human history. As veteran Division agents, players are the last hope against the complete fall of society as enemy factions vie for control of the city. If Washington D.C. is lost, the entire nation falls. Building upon more than two years of listening to and learnings from The Division community, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 will offer a substantial campaign that organically flows into a robust endgame, to create a cohesive and meaningful experience for all types of players.
